Cycling around Sailimu Lake - Day 269

Start: Sailimu Lake (east end), Xinjiang, China
End: Sailimu Lake (west end), Xinjiang, China
Distance: 25 km
Time: 1'28"
Avg: 17.1 k/h
Max: 46.5 k/h
Total: 13,192 km
Total riding days: 173
Riding hours: 1905 - 2110

For me this has been the most beautiful spot in all of China. They save the best to last.

Green and white mountains, crystal waters, flowers everywhere, sunsets the size of... something pretty big.

  1. Awesome. You're now cycling along my future route! I should be there in late August.

I'm glad to hear that I can get my Kazakh visa in Urumqi. Where'd you get your Kyrgyzstan visa? I'm tossing up whether to get it here in Japan or in Beijing. Or is there a Kyrgyz embassy in Urumqi also?

Looks like you're having some cracker weather!

    Have fun.

  2. The cycling picture, on this one you've got stumped. I have no idea what your resting your foot on unless you asked someone to take it for you?

Also the shadow is in the right place and everything...

    all the best

  3. Ah the joys of delayed photography.

Although the bother you have to go to to set up the camera, set the timer, run like a maniac across the road, go down the road sufficiently far, onto the bike, get up to speed and make it look effortless and part of the natural rhythm of the ride within 10 seconds and timed properly is normally is more a pain than is worth.

FWIW every second time I've done this the bike has keeled over.

    Ed, whats your secret?
